Farewell 1Xtra – Departing Words

Posted by Bailey Intabeats  •  Filed under News

The time has come for me to move on from BBC 1Xtra as of the beginning of September 2012. I’ve loved every minute of what I and my teams have managed to accomplish over the last 10 years, some which will be hard to replicate. It is with great anticipation that I plan to proceed with the next chapter of my journey, and whether on radio, on tour or in production, I’ll still be here doing what I do best….., representing the music I love with passion.

All that’s left to say is a HUGE thank you to everyone who has listened to the show over the last decade. Watch THIS space……

Bailey wow. You have been a key part of my musical life. I have listened to your show every week. If it wasn’t for your show I would have never became obsessed with drum and bass. I remember first listening in early 2008. The music you and others have introduced to me has changed my life. I have done and seen some interesting things and met some interesting people pertaining to drum and bass. I saw you play for the first time at Tech:nology at Hidden in February. We shook hands as you walked past lol. I look forward to seeing and hearing you play again soon (possibly Sun and Bass)! Respects!

I remember listening to your show back in the beginning… honestly it was a highlight of my week, something I really looked forward to. Lots of great memories of so many awesome shows; for as much as it was a part of my life, thank you for sharing your musical vision with all of your audience over the past 10 years. Your show will be missed, but we’re looking forward to seeing what you do next. Thank you!

Sad to see you go. Always loved your show. So it just the Friction show every two weeks?? That is not enough D&B on the BBC airwaves

Awwwwwh :( your show was the first time I ever heard dnb on the radio [I'm from Romania so no dnb radio shows] and was like :whaaaaaaaaaaaaat? This was 2008.
Since then, Drum and Bass with Bailey has become somewhat of a ritual, and has greatly helped improve my record collection as well as proving extremely annoying when records that would be released 8 months latter got played. Otherwise your show was where I first heard Favela and I won’t even mention the jaw-dropping guest mixes!
So I will definitely miss the show but I am sure mister Bailey has got something bigger cooking up and hopefully he’ll let us in on it!

Much LOVE Sir

Bailey,
I have throughly enjoyed all of your music and everything you’ve done on bbc 1xtra! You killed the show I’m D.C. at The Loft. I will have to tag the picture of you and I that my friend Amnah took that night. Thanks again for all the tunes. Be EZ and big ups!

For the longest time we have felt periods of drought in music culture of integrity, passion, sustainabilty and the discerning. Bailey always was there doing it right, moving forward, holding the torch. He will be remembered as one of the real heores. Great eras of UK radio, the great days of Westwood bringing in the Hip Hop, One in the Jungle, the Bailey 1xtra years is right up there. Long live the Intanatty concrete boots. Psycho Mambo loves ya.

This is very sad news. You will be missed Bailey. I’ve only just in the past couple of years found your show and now it’s going away. The same with any other show I listen to, they all seem to get cancelled.

Radio 1 has been pulled apart and ruined in the past year or so, Moyles leaving in September will finish it off for me. The only thing holding 1xtra together after Bailey leaves is Mistajam, what a shame. Bring back Andy Parfitt.

BEST DnB show ever, mate it won’t be the same anymore!

Good luck for the future and thanks for the memories, bad ass tunes and for making a small part of every one of my Thursdays at work in Australia slightly more bearable.

will be watching with HUGE anticipation for what is next…

RESPECT to one of the legends…
