No U Turn Records ‘Torque’ Album Tour, Germany 1997

December 25th, 2011  |  Posted by Bailey Intabeats  |  Filed under Video

I was priveleged to have been included in a tour of Germany with No U Turn Records in 1997 alongside Nico, Ed Rush, Fierce and Ryme Tyme. It was a relentless 9 date tour with only 1 day off and was the first of it’s kind in Germany for Drum & Bass at a time when the ‘Tech-Step’ sound of D&B was cutting egde. Label boss Nico filmed a lot of the happenings during the tour on stage and off stage and to this day has never realeased the full video. In the mean time, he has been teasing the world via his Youtube page with snippets of what was a landmark tour for Drum & Bass in Europe. There have also been hints of a film being made by Nico called ‘Born In ’78’  footage from the tour. In baited breath, we wait.

Below are a few clips that have now seen the light of day:

On the road to the next city the day after doing Cafe Kesslehouse in Darmstadt (where sweat dripped from the ceiling), Fierce and I check our dubplates for damages.

Waterlogged dubplates on the decks the night before.

Last night of the tour which ended in Frieburg, Switzerland.
