July 20th, 2011  |  Posted by Bailey Intabeats  |  Filed under News

The Sunandbass Crew have just released a news letter highlighting some of the line up for this years festival. Artists performing are: 2 Shy, A Sides, Addison Groove, Amit, Bailey, Black Sun Empire, Calibre, Code 3, Consequence, dBridge, Deeizm, Dom & Roland, DRS, Enea, Fracture, Jon Convex, Jubei, Klute, Lenzman, Logistics, Lowqui, Lynx, Marcus Intalex, Nu:Tone, Nymfo, Paul Spymania, Riya, Seba, SP:MC, Stamina, They Live and Wrec. More names are due to be added.

For me it’s THE festival for Drum & Bass in the sun, set in a quiet, picturesque town called San Teodoro in Sardinia, Italy with it’s golden beaches and cool clientele. If you haven’t been before, check out the video section of this website here and cast your eye over Sunandbass in 2009. Bliss!

There was also a mention of a DJ competition in association with mixcloud.com

Sounding Sweet

July 19th, 2011  |  Posted by Bailey Intabeats  |  Filed under News

I was lucky enough to acquire a pair of these rather pricy studio monitor headphones on my travels this year.

I’m told by Alex Rosson, Drum & Bass enthusiast and owner of Audeze that what I was given was a highly researched pair of planar technology headphones. The technical jargon I was told beyond this point of the conversation went WAY over my head but I can tell you from usage that these are a pretty damn good pair of headphones for quiet nights making and mixing down music whilst avoiding upsetting the neighbours.

If you want to check them out yourself, head to http://www.audeze.com/

Pledge to help Krust help others

July 19th, 2011  |  Posted by Bailey Intabeats  |  Filed under News

DJ Krust, one of the original members of the Mercury Music Prize winning band called Reprazent has always been one for pushing the boundaries, experimenting and innovating. He wishes to continue in the same fashion but this time with you to help the process for his new venture called Rebel Instinct.

“Rebel Instinct is foremost an entertainment company. The aim is to create interesting projects and stuff we like. The first project is a compilation album that features artists Mark Day, Benjamin One, George Kurts, Need for Mirrors, Dan Miracle and DJ Krust. Each artist is encouraged to create music in different styles as well as some kind of art, photography, poems, books (what ever best suits each artist’s personality).”

This PledgeMusic campaign will let you buy the compilation as a pre-sale and at the end of the campaign you will get to download it before anyone else. Along with this comes unusual things such as signed and personalised demo mixes/CDRs, Vinyl, Full Cycle memorabilia, creativity workshops and a chance to hang out with Krust at his studio and get some DJ and production guidance.

A percentage of the money raised by this pledge will go to a special charity that works in Africa. Temwa is an organisation working in Malawi helping communities to build a sustainable future. Their community led projects include improving education by building schools and providing scholarships as well as tackling hunger with agricultural training and support.

If you wish to help Krust, click here where you can also watch his video.
